ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – On Wednesday, a St. Louis Circuit Court judge signed a pair of arrest warrants for a Houston, Texas, man accused of stealing Apple products worth thousands of dollars from at least two different stores last fall.
According to probable cause statements from the Richmond Heights and Webster Groves police departments, the thefts happened on Oct. 9, 2024.
Richmond Heights police said Terry Simmons entered a T-Mobile store on Clayton Road and asked a store employee about a particular brand of headphones. After being told the store didn’t carry that brand, Simmons allegedly waited for the employee to turn his attention elsewhere and then stole four iPhones and three Apple watches, with an approximate value of $5,750. The theft was captured on store surveillance video.
Simmons was later identified by a police officer in Springfield, Missouri, who was investigating a similar theft in that jurisdiction.
Investigators recognized Simmons by distinct neck tattoos.
That same day, Webster Groves police said Simmons walked into a T-Mobile store on Laclede Station Road and ripped three Apple watches—valued at approximately $1,800—from their security cords on a display. The theft was also captured on surveillance video.
Police claim Simmons stole from another T-Mobile store in Overland that same day, but a probable cause statement has not appeared in online court records.
Local authorities obtained Simmons’ vehicle registration confirmed he’d used the same car for multiple thefts in the area.
An officer in Texas confirmed Simmons was suspected of committing similar thefts in the Houston area.
Law enforcement believes Simmons would not appear in court on a criminal summons since he’s a Texas resident with no known ties to the St. Louis region.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Simmons with two counts of stealing – $750 or more. Both arrest warrants carry a $50,000 cash-only bond.
Anyone with information on Simmons’ whereabouts is asked to call 911 to contact their nearest law enforcement agency.
