MISSOURI — This spring has already proven to be a wet and stormy one; from March 14 to May 16, tornadoes have ravaged the area. Now as the season turns to summer, the area will begin to see temperatures begin to warm.

FOX 2 meteorologists report that the St. Louis area will grow into a new pattern this year compared to previous years when it comes to heat.

This June, the month will start warmer than normal and then cool off by the third week, according to Chief Meteorologist Glenn Zimmerman. Despite a warm start, June will kick off a summer that begins cooler than in June last year when there were only five days below average temperatures.

While record highs in years past can hit near 100 degrees, this June starts off in the mid to upper 80s, by the third week of June the area will cool off.

By the end of June, the heat is expected to hit as the area heads into dry and warm weather come July.

FOX 2 meteorologists report that the benchmark for heat in July is 93 degrees and the area may be hitting that line throughout the month.

St. Louis may also see a chance at 100 degrees with cooler air filtering in later in the month as normal rainfall may come in the last two weeks.

By the end of the summer, Zimmerman said the area will stay within the 90s for high temperatures and there may be a chance for St. Louis to reach 100 degrees. The month is also expected to stay dry compared to August 2024 with only a couple storms with rainfall.
