ST. LOUIS – A tornado likely rolled through the City of St. Louis on Friday afternoon, based on FOX 2 radar indications and preliminary analysis from the National Weather Service.

New video appears to show what FOX 2 meteorologists believe to be the radar-detected tornado that moved through the city Friday afternoon.

Video footage, shared with FOX 2 by Sean Malone of KMOX News via Storyful, shows dark, churning clouds and an apparent funnel shape visible just beyond several buildings near the St. Louis City-County line.

“That could be the tornado,” said FOX 2 Chief Meteorologist Glenn Zimmerman on-air.

Powerful storms rolled through the St. Louis region early Friday afternoon, bringing hail, high winds and heavy rain. Tornado warnings were also issued during the storm system.

St. Louis Mayor Cara Spencer reports at least four storm-related fatalities in St. Louis. It remains unclear whether those deaths are directly linked to the radar-indicated tornado.
