ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Blues have already begun their rollout for the 2024 NHL Winter Classic after releasing the jerseys they will wear against the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday. To help showcase the new uniform, the team received help from a well-known fan.
St. Louis native and actor Jon Hamm made a surprise appearance on ‘NHL on TNT’ to highlight the new uniforms the team will wear against the Chicago Blackhawks.
The surprise appearance came when the ‘NHL on TNT’ crew was gifted the Winter Classic jerseys during a broadcast Wednesday night. Everyone received a jersey, except NHL commentator and former player Paul Bissonnette, who opened his box and found a t-shirt instead of the new jersey.
‘Where’s my jersey? I want my jersey!’ Bissonnette said. He would later find out that the jersey wasn’t sent to him; it was jokingly mailed to St. Louis’s own Jon Hamm, who appeared on the screen flashing the new uniform.
While on the show, Hamm, a known Blues enthusiast, talked about how he became a big fan of the team and how he grew to love the sport of hockey.
The Blues new Winter Classic jerseys pay homage to St. Louis’ hockey heritage and were inspired by an unworn 1966 prototype Blues uniform, which features retro font styling and numbers for the uniforms. The uniforms will serve as the first time in team history that the signature Blue Note is not the principal design on the chest.
The 2024 NHL Winter Classic showdown between the St. Louis Blues and Chicago Blackhawks takes place at Wrigley Field on New Year’s Eve. The puck is set to drop at 4 p.m.
The jerseys and additional NHL Winter Classic merchandise, including winter hats, outerwear, and more, are on sale now and can be purchased at stlauthentics.com.
