ST. LOUIS – Even in his passing, actor and performer Ken Page still brings people together.
Adoring fans, esteemed colleagues and loved ones gathered at the Sheldon Concert Hall to honor his memory on April 11.
“Ken Page was an amazing performer who conquered Broadway and was king of the Muny here for years and decades,” said Peter Palermo, executive director of Sheldon Concert Hall.
The St. Louis Native made his debut at the Muny in 1972 as a part of the ensemble in “South Pacific,” but his talents took him all over the globe.
Gracing the stage with performances in “Cats, Ain’t Misbehavin’” and “Children of Eden,” Ken Page also made his way to the big screen, remembered most notably as Oogie Boogie in Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”
“As soon as Ken walked out on stage, everything got calmer,” said Danny Elfman, film composer and singer/songwriter. “Everything got lighter. Everything got happier. Everything got easier. He lifted everyone’s spirits every single time.”
