COLUMBIA, Mo. – A Lake St. Louis man is in custody following an incident that led to a five-hour standoff over the weekend in Columbia.

According to authorities, Columbia police were called to the 2700 block of Summit Rd. around 4:30 a.m. Saturday for a domestic disturbance.

Court records state that when police arrived, they saw 29-year-old Octavious Brashaw pacing around and announced their presence. He was ordered to come outside but remained in the house with one victim. According to police, they did not go inside the home as Bradshaw was armed.

The first victim ran toward police and began recounting what had happened. Officers noticed physical injuries to the victim, which included bruising, lacerations, a chipped tooth, and more.

Police said Bradshaw had told the first victim that he would shoot her and the second victim, adding that if he was arrested by police, “it would be for murder.”

Following negotiations with the SWAT team and the Columbia Police Department, Bradshaw was taken into custody around 9:30 a.m.

Bradshaw was charged with second-degree domestic assault, first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon. He is being held without bond.

Court records say Bradshaw was also wanted for a first-degree burglary charge in St. Louis.

An investigation is ongoing, and the Columbia Police Department is asking anyone who has information regarding this incident contacts them at 573-874-7652 or CrimeStoppers at 573-875-8477 to remain anonymous and potentially receive a reward.
