ST. LOUIS – One of the men charged in the shooting death of CBC student Colin Brown is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.

28-year-old Donovan Baucom is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Carnahan Courthouse in downtown St. Louis. Baucom faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder, armed criminal action, assault and unlawful use of a weapon.

Investigators believe Baucom and a second suspect, 26-year-old Garrett Jordan, were involved in the November shooting that claimed the life of 16-year-old Colin Brown.

Brown was struck by a stray bullet while riding in a car on Interstate 55 after a hockey game. He died from his injuries four days later, on Nov. 27, 2024. Brown was a member of the CBC varsity hockey team and also played for the O’Fallon Panthers Hockey Club.

Police say cell phone records place Baucom and Jordan together on the day of the shooting. Witnesses also reported seeing a dark Audi linked to the suspects. Investigators later determined the car belonged to Baucom’s sister, who told detectives she had loaned it to him.

Baucom remains in protective custody without bond as the investigation continues. Colin Brown’s family has been vocal about their desire for justice and accountability in this tragic case.
