ST. LOUIS – A man is facing felony charges following a conversation where he discussed threats to kill St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones and others last week.

Records state that 51-year-old William Edward Clay went to a soup kitchen on March 4 in the city and began speaking to an individual “in a crowded room,” before sharing his desire to carry out a mass casualty attack in addition to threatening to kill the mayor and family services officers.

This incident was reported to police. Officers located and arrested Clay the next day.

Records say Clay told police at the time of his arrest that he had drugs in his pocket. Lab testing revealed the drug was methamphetamine.

According to court documents, Clay is charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of a second-degree terrorist threat.

He is currently being held without bond.
