ST. LOUIS — A 27-year-old man was carjacked at gunpoint early Monday morning while warming up his car in the city’s Dutchtown neighborhood.

According to St. Louis Metropolitan Police, the carjacking took place around 5:20 a.m. in the 3600 block of Alberta.

The victim told police he went out to his car to let it warm up and left the vehicle running while he went back into his home. Five minutes later, the victim went back to his car and was approached by an unknown man armed with a firearm.

The victim said the suspect pointed the firearm at him and gave the suspect his phone and wallet.

The unknown suspect took money from the wallet and took off in the victim’s 2007 Mercury Montego.
