WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. – One man is in custody after being accused of striking and killing another man with his vehicle over the weekend in Williamson County.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were called to the 11000 block of Saraville Rd. just before midnight Friday for a report of a man struck by a car. Police found a 38-year-old man lying in the driveway.

The victim was airlifted to a regional trauma center when the helicopter had to change routes to Harrisburg Medical Center due to the man’s condition declining. The victim was pronounced dead just before 2 a.m.

Police added that evidence was recovered after gaining a search warrant.

Trevor Stewart was arrested and charged for reckless homicide, aggravated driving under the influence, obstructing justice, and reckless conduct. More charges are expected, according to police. He is currently being held at the Williamson County Jail.
