ST. LOUIS – St. Louis police are investigating after a man reported being robbed at gunpoint over the weekend after accepting a ride from three strangers.
According to a spokesman for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers received a call for a “hold-up” just after 11 p.m. Saturday in the 5000 block of Goodfellow Boulevard, located in the Walnut Park West neighborhood.
Officers met with the victim, a 41-year-old man, who explained that he was at a casino when two men and a woman offered him a ride home. The victim said he accepted their offer.
The trio drove north and took the man to an alley along Goodfellow. The victim said the two men each pulled a gun on him and demanded his money.
Police said one of the men reached into the victim’s satchel and stole a large amount of cash.
The victim told police he was forced out of the vehicle and one of the armed men struck him in the face with their firearm. One the suspects fired several shots into the air before they drove off.
Police said the victim complained of jaw pain but officers saw no injuries to the man’s face.
In addition, police said officers received conflicting information from the victim regarding the robbery and where it exactly occurred.
