ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A man was convicted of felony charges Wednesday in the shooting death of his boss over money in St. Louis County.

A jury convicted Rodney Collins, 35, of first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the shooting death of William Gholson, according to Missouri court records.

Collins shot and killed Gholson on August 11, 2023. Collins admitted to police that he was angry with Gholson over matters involving money, according to a news release from the St. Louis County’s Prosecuting Office.

Investigators say Gholson was shot in the bedroom of his home, and police later seized a weapon from Collins’ home suspected in the shooting.

“I thank our entire skilled trial team for all their hard work and for making St Louis a safer place to live through their successful prosecution of this cold-blooded murder,” said St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Melissa Price Smith.

Collins could be sentenced up to life in prison without eligibility of parole.
