JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. – Already in custody and awaiting trial for a November 2024 homicide, a St. Louis man has now been charged in a different jurisdiction for a 2021 shooting.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office’s probable cause statement, the shooting happened sometime between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. on Aug. 26, 2021.
Deputies spoke with witnesses at the scene and learned Torey M. Paige was staying at a woman’s home after she went on a break with her “on again, off again boyfriend of six years.” The woman said this former boyfriend—the shooting victim—had previously lived at the residence and, on this night, had forced his way into the home.
The woman told him her three children were asleep and that he’d have to leave. Deputies said Paige began yelling for the man to leave.
Paige and the other man confronted each other in the living room area. The victim punched Paige, who fell back into a bedroom. Paige retrieved his firearm and shot the victim multiple times. The victim collapsed to the floor of the home, and one of the witnesses yelled at Paige to leave.
Deputies said the victim suffered gunshot wounds to his right pec, center upper abdomen, and upper right thigh.
Paige was on the run until his arrest in St. Louis City in December 2024 for a fatal shooting the month prior in the city’s Princeton Heights neighborhood. Paige remains in custody in that case on charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action. His trial is scheduled to start on Dec. 1, 2025.
Meanwhile, the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Paige with first-degree assault and armed criminal action for the 2021 shooting.
