ST. LOUIS – Police are investigating after an overnight shooting left a man dead in the Central West End Thursday morning.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD), the shooting took place shortly after 2:40 a.m. in the area of North Sarah Street and Washington Avenue in the Central West End.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man in the street suffering from a gunshot wound. The man would later be pronounced dead at the scene.
FOX 2’s Brian Howe captured video overnight as the investigation was unfolding. Police placed evidence markers at the scene to collect as much information as possible. The police had set up black barricades to conceal the victim’s body until the medical examiner arrived and transported it from the scene.
Police called homicide detectives to the scene to investigate the shooting. At this point, there is no word from police about any leads on a potential suspect in the shooting.
