ST. ANN, Mo. – A sibling squabble is pushed to uncomfortable limits as a St. Ann man shot at his own brother for allegedly stealing the man’s sandwich.
The shooting happened Friday, May 23, in the 3500 of Wright Avenue, according to the St. Ann Police Department’s probable cause statement.
Police said Antoine Turner and his older brother live in the same duplex but have separate bedrooms in the basement.
On the day of the shooting, police said Turner saw his brother take Turner’s Philly cheesesteak sandwich and go his bedroom to eat it. Turner went down to his own bedroom, took a gun, and fired a shot into his brother’s bedroom.
Police said the bullet nearly struck the victim.
The victim exited his bedroom and watched Turner walk up the stairs with a gun in his hand. The victim told police he could smell gunpowder while watching his brother go up the stairs.
Police searched Turner’s bedroom and found four handguns and an AK-style rifle.
Turner was taken into custody days later.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Turner with first-degree assault and armed criminal action. Turner remains jailed on a $75,000 cash-only bond. He’s due in court for a bond reduction hearing on June 3 and a preliminary hearing on June 23.
