ST. LOUIS – An overnight shooting at a gas station in north St. Louis left a man dead Wednesday morning.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD), the shooting took place around 1:30 a.m. on the 2800 block of North Vandeventer, near St. Louis Avenue, in north St. Louis’ Jeff-Vander-Lou neighborhood.

When authorities arrived on the scene at the gas station, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. After receiving treatment, the man would later succumb to his injuries.

Homicide detectives were called in to investigate the shooting. At the scene, the gas pump at the station revealed a white SUV with its door open. It’s unclear if the man may have been shot either in or just outside of the SUV.
