ST. LOUIS – A man won $174,000 after purchasing a lottery ticket during a quick stop for snacks in south St. Louis.
The winning ticket was purchased on May 5 during a stop at a Schnucks in south St. Louis, located on the 5000 block of Arsenal Street. The winning numbers were 7, 13, 19, 28, and 39.
“I was on my way to a ballgame,” the winner said. “I stopped for a bag of peanuts and picked up a couple of Quick Pick tickets.”
The next morning, the man checked his tickets and was surprised to discover he had won the jackpot. To make sure he was looking at the ticket correctly, the man took it to his wife in the kitchen to double-check to see if he was indeed the winner.
