MISSOURI — Lawmakers in Missouri are considering legalizing psychedelic drugs for struggling veterans, according to a new house bill.
HB 829, sponsored by Republican Representative Richard West in the St. Charles and Warren counties, would legalize psilocybin for veterans suffering from substance abuse, major depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and end-of-life care.
Psilocybin is a naturally found psychedelic found in over 200 mushrooms, also known as “magic mushrooms.”
The proposal is scheduled for another house hearing on March 3. If the bill is passed, it would go into effect on Aug. 28.
