MISSOURI — House Bill 285 would require some Missouri public and charter schools to offer breakfast during the school day beginning in the 2025-2026 school year.
According to the bill, it applies to any public or charter school in which 70 percent or more of the students were eligible for free or reduced meals through the National School Lunch Program or School Breakfast Program.
The schools required to provide breakfast are given the option to serve it during or after a first period, or students may pick up breakfast in the cafeteria and eat when and where they want.
The bill, if passed, would require “breakfast after the bell” be implemented starting in the 2025-2026 school years.
