JASPER COUNTY, Mo. — A Jasper County man faces multiple charges after authorities say he illegally recorded people inside a popular Joplin fitness center.

Joshua Simpson, 43, of Neck City is accused of recording women inside a tanning room at Colaw Fitness Center.

He’s charged with seven counts of invasion of privacy and one count of possession of child porn.

Authorities started investigating Simpson last month when the Missouri Southern Police Department contacted the Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force about images and videos involving Missouri Southern State University students.

According to reports, the videos and images were being distributed through the Discord app.

Investigators say they tracked the content to Simpson’s Discord account and found 22 files of six women, one of which was under the age of 18.

He’s being held in the Jasper County Jail on a $250,000 surety bond or $60,000 cash bond.
