ST. LOUIS – Baseball is back! It is going to rain on this Cardinals Opening Day Thursday, but it won’t be raining ALL day.
There will be a lot of dry time Thursday, and many festivities (and of course plans at home, work, or school) will be unaffected. But there will be pockets of rain and thunder around through the day, especially early Thursday morning and again in the afternoon and early evening.
Northwest of metro St. Louis, the rain will be a bit more significant with 1″ or more possible by Friday morning. Those heading downtown Thursday should plan to experience rain at some point. Bring a rain jacket, and yes, there could be a short game delay at some time. But it will still be fun no matter what. Top afternoon temperatures Thursday will be around 70 F.
A few showers and storms may linger into Thursday night and early Friday. Wake-up temperatures Friday will be in the 50s. Friday will be windy and warm, with highs near 80 F, with a slight chance for a shower or thunderstorm.
Saturday will bring a chance for showers, especially in the morning, with temperatures highs in the low 70s. A cold front moving through Saturday night and Sunday will bring the best shot at stronger thunderstorms, bringing a wind and hail threat. That front will cool us down for Monday.
