ST. CHARLES, Mo. — A warrant is out for an O’Fallon, Missouri, woman’s arrest for falsely statingshe and her children had been kidnapped, triggering an Amber Alert in November 2024.

According to court documents, Yajayra Molina-Yat, the mother of two young daughters, gave false information to an unidentified person who reported them missing to St. Charles County police.

As a result, an Amber Alert was issued for Molina-Yat and her two daughters on November 11, 2024, after Molina-Yat and her children left their home in O’Fallon and got into a rideshare vehicle the day before.

Molina-Yat told the unidentified person she intended to go to North Carolina for work before getting into the rideshare vehicle. An hour after leaving, police said Molina-Yat contacted the unidentified person in O’Fallon, stating she was worried because the rideshare driver made a phone call that worried her.

Molina-Yat texted the unidentified person that during the phone call the driver said “they” would not let them out of the vehicle. She also said the vehicle was traveling in the wrong direction.

An hour later, Molina-Yat texted the unidentified person again and said they pulled into an unknown gas station located outside of Springfield, Missouri, where she was separated from her children. Molina-Yat said three men told her to get into a red truck against her will.

According to police, Molina-Yat also texted the unidentified person that she saw her children’s father, who lives in Corpus Christi, Texas, at the gas station.

In response, the unidentified person in O’Fallon reported Molina-Yat and her children missing to police. Investigators were present as Molina-Yat continued to send texts to the unidentified person about her location.

According to court documents, Molina-Yat sent the following messages:

  • “It’s just that the people who are taking me are drunk.”
  • “We almost crashed right now.”
  • “I already told them, and they said a deal is a deal.”
  • “They are taking me where they said.”
  • “Only God knows what is going to happen.”
  • “Yes, I already told them to let me off but they say that a deal is a deal”

Molina-Yat sent another text to the unidentified person that said she was at an address in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Later, Corpus Christ police located Molina-Yat and her two children with their father, who were all safe and in good health, according to the police.

Detectives said Molina-Yat committed to the story that she was still held against her will. Despite this, the father of her children said she had expressed wanting to come home, and he arranged a ride for him to pick her up.

The man showed text messages he’d received from Molina-Yat stating that she loved him. Detectives interviewed the driver of the black SUV who said Molina-Yat and her children were never coerced or held against their will.

The driver also said Molina-Yat and the children’s father were affectionate during the ride to Texas.

After a download of Molina-Yat’s phone, it had multiple videos of Molina-Yat during the car ride to Texas that showed she was not in distress and was making lip sync videos.

Molina-Yat has been charged with making a false report and given a $50,000 cash-only bond. A warrant for her arrest was issued on Tuesday.
