ST. LOUIS – We have a long night ahead in the St. Louis metro area, especially in the southernmost counties within the FOX 2 News viewing area, as snowfall has intensified with the arrival of the second wave of this winter storm.

The storm is on track after delivering an inch or more of snow Tuesday morning across the St. Louis area. Following an afternoon lull, the main phase of the system is here.

Drier air north of St. Louis is limiting snowfall in those areas. St. Louis sits on the northern edge of the snowstorm. The St. Louis metro area will see another 2 inches or so of snow accumulation.

Our southern counties—including cities like Rolla, Farmington, and Carbondale, Illinois—could see 8 to 10 inches in some spots.

The snowfall will break apart and depart the St. Louis area between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. However, that won’t be the end of things, as there will be enough energy in the air, with clouds and gusty winds bringing flurries through Wednesday. Temperatures will stay in the teens for highs, with gusty winds making it feel much colder.
