MSHP officials say the Mercedes and Ford were both traveling northbound on Route 21, while the Chevrolet was traveling southbound.

The crash occurred when the driver of the Mercedes traveled across the roadway and struck the front of the Chevrolet.

After the two vehicles collided, MSHP says the Mercedes returned to the northbound lanes and traveled into the path of the Ford, causing the Ford to strike the right side of the vehicle.

The driver of the Chevrolet was pronounced dead on the scene, MSHP says. A passenger in the Chevrolet was transported to a nearby hospital suffering from moderate injuries.

The driver of the Mercedes was transported to a nearby hospital after suffering moderate injuries from the crash. Two passengers in the Mercedes were also transported to a nearby hospital, both suffering from serious injuries.

The drivers and passengers in the crash were all wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The driver in the Ford did not suffer from any injuries.
