ST. LOUIS – Authorities are investigating after a driver fatally struck a pedestrian Friday afternoon in north St. Louis.

SLMPD reports the collision happened around 2 p.m. Friday near the intersection of West Florissant Avenue and Kingshighway Boulevard in St. Louis’ Mark Twain neighborhood.

Investigators say one person has died. A vehicle involved in the collision remained at the scene.

Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area and use alternate routes if possible as police investigate the scene.
