ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department is asking for help from the public in an effort to find a man who is wanted for assaulting a worker and attempting to steal a vehicle from a car dealership.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the incident occurred on Jan. 4 at Schicker Ford, located on the 3300 block of S. Kingshighway.

Police say a little before 11:10 a.m. on Jan. 4, the suspect entered the business and inquired about buying a vehicle. Police say the man asked to test drive a car and while doing so, the suspect attempted to drive off without paying for it.

According to police, when an employee confronted the suspect, officials say that the suspect punched the employee before exiting the vehicle and fled from the scene. Police say the employee sustained a minor lip injury but declined medical attention.

Officials say that the man wanted for the crime is described as a black man standing between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 9 inches. Police say the man is approximately 40 to 45 years old and was last seen wearing a black skull cap, black pants, a blue coat, and brown boots.
