ST. LOUIS – Harlem Tap Room, a staple in the Ville on Martin Luther King Jr. Dr., collapsed in Friday’s storm.

People in the neighborhood gathered around once the storm had passed and the fire department was cleaning up debris from the road to make it passable again.

Iris Crawford was working in the kitchen at Jaden’s Diner nearby when she heard the storm pick up.

“I was praying. I started praying like, ‘God, please, whatever’s going on out there, don’t let it hit us.’ I was still cooking, still cooking. I heard it and then the lights went click. I was like, uh oh. Something’s going on. I still finished that food, though,” she said.

Crawford said there were several people inside the Harlem Tap Room when the storm went through but that everyone made it out.

Other storm debris littered the area. Some smaller tree branches blocked parts of some of the roads nearby. Several stoplights had also lost power.
