CHICAGO (WGN) — Former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan should spend more than 12 years behind bars, federal prosecutors say.
In a memo filed Friday evening, prosecutors said Madigan has expressed no remorse for his crimes and accused him of lying on the stand.
The 83-year-old longtime politician was convicted in February of conspiring to accept bribes from ComEd over the course of a decade.
Madigan’s sentencing is scheduled for June 13. In addition to prison time, he could also be fined $1.5 million.
