ST. LOUIS – May 7 marks the beginning of the new federal Real ID requirements for flying by plane domestically in the United States.

The Department of Homeland Security’s website looks to make the process easy for those to navigate. Those who visit the website will be taken straight to the DMV’s page, which contains a list of items for individuals to have when getting their Real ID.

Identifiers, such as your birth certificate, social security card, W-2 form and utility bills, can be used when trying to apply for your Real ID.

TSA recommends arriving at Lambert Airport two hours before a flight.

Those who don’t have a passport or a Real ID should arrive three hours early and expect to be pulled from the line.
