ST. LOUIS – The Red Cross shelter announced that it will remain open for Missourians, following the widespread tornado damage that impacted the area last Friday.
In its news release, the Red Cross noted that east-central, northeastern and southern parts of Missouri were impacted by recent tornadoes. Various homes and businesses were damaged or destroyed as a result.
The Red Cross said its focus is to assist those affected by the storm by providing shelters, food, water and emotional support. Red Cross is also working with local officials when it comes to determining the community’s needs.
Assessments are currently underway in:
- St. Louis County, Rolla (Phelps County)
- Poplar Bluff (Butler County)
- Southern Missouri counties
Distribution of emergency supplies is underway in:
- Iron
- Phelps
- St. Louis County
- Wayne County
Emergency supplies in Rola (Phelps County) and St. Louis County will be distributed tomorrow.
Those who are in need of assistance are urged to call Red Cross at 1-800-RED-CROSS. Individuals download its app for weather alerts and shelter information.
