ST. LOUIS – The Riverview Gardens School District could possibly close a school this year.
According to our partners at the St. Louis Post Dispatch, district leaders are considering closing a school to deal with post-pandemic enrollment decline throughout the region.
Superintendent Tanya Patton says the school district is looking at a few options, including closing Lewis and Clark Elementary. The district is looking at schools with the lowest enrollment, highest maintenance costs, and redrawing elementary school boundary lines. There is also an option that the school district decides to do nothing at all.
Riverview Gardens’ parents, employees, and community members can take a survey to provide input on the looming decision. A set of four meetings will also be held to present the options, with the first meeting taking place on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at Lewis and Clark.
