FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. – A funeral service will be held to honor the service of Chevy Gall, a 16-year-old volunteer firefighter, who was killed in a crash in Franklin County, Missouri, on April 4.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 4:15 p.m. on U.S. Route 50 near Missouri Route 185, where Gall was responding to a water rescue call.

According to reports, Gall’s car crossed a center line and struck the front of a second vehicle.

The 16-year-old was rushed to a hospital, where he later passed away from his injuries.

The other driver involved in the crash, a 30-year-old man, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, according to MSHP.

Terry Feth, the Beaufort-Leslie Fire Protection District Fire Chief, shared a statement on social media in response to Gall’s passing on April 4.

“Tonight is a fire chief’s worst nightmare. We are heartbroken by the loss of one of our own. Chevy died while answering the call to help others. Our entire department is grieving, as we mourn with Chevy’s family, friends, and our fellow first responders during this incredibly difficult time.”

Feth spoke with FOX 2 on April 10, sharing the life of Chevy and his commitment to serving others.

“Well, with a name like Chevy, you’d expect him to be ordinary—and in his way, he was,” Feth said. “He was very dedicated to his position, and he was eager to train and learn. The gentleman was here when we always needed him.”

Chevy is remembered for his passion for firefighting. He was a student at Union High School, studying auto collision repair and apprenticing at Auto Body Brothers.

Chevy’s service will be held on Saturday, April 12, at Life Stream Church in Washington, Missouri. His funeral will begin at 1 p.m.
