ST. LOUIS – Shake Shack, a popular fast-casual burger chain, is planning to open one of its first U.S. casino restaurants in St. Louis next year, specifically at River City Casino.

Last week, Shake Shack announced plans to open 10 casino-based locations through a new partnership with PENN Entertainment.

As part of this partnership, the first planned locations include River City Casino Hotel in St. Louis and Hollywood Casino in Toledo, Ohio. Both are expected to open in 2026, pending customary regulatory approvals.

“Shake Shack is thrilled to be partnering with PENN Entertainment to open ten incredible Shacks and take a meaningful step into the entertainment space,” said Michael Kark, President of Global Licensing at Shake Shack, via a news release. “We’re creating new opportunities to share our special blend of top-notch ingredients and warm hospitality with even more guests.”

An official opening date has not yet been announced, and additional details remain limited.

Shake Shack is known for its elevated style of fast food, offering burgers, hot dogs, crinkle-cut fries and hand-spun shakes with more flair than traditional fast-food chains.

Once open, this location will mark at least the seventh or eight in the St. Louis area, joining others in St. Louis’ Central West End neighborhood, Ladue, Des Peres and Chesterfield, in addition to stands at the Enterprise Center and Lambert International Airport. Another local location is in the works near Sunset Hills.
