ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A Spanish Lake, Missouri, man is in custody after allegedly having sex with the seat of a MetroLink train – for the second time in less than a year.

According to the St. Louis County Police Department’s probable cause statement, this latest incident occurred on Feb. 13.

A woman told police that a man had exposed himself at the UMSL South MetroLink Station. The man stood behind her and was touching himself. Police said the man eventually got on a train.

That same day, police said the same man got on a MetroLink train at the Central West End Station. When the train got to the Lambert Airport Terminal 1 Station, he again took out his genitals and proceeded to have sex with the upper bar of one of the train seats for approximately 10 minutes.

Police said the man’s genitals were exposed until he got off the train at the airport station.

Both incidents were caught on surveillance video.

Investigators identified the suspect as Deangelo A. Covington (age not provided). Covington was arrested and charged in June 2024 for the same activity on a train at the airport. He pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual misconduct in that incident on Dec. 9, 2024, and was sentenced to 173 days in jail but would be credited with time served.

On Feb. 25, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Covington with two counts of first-degree sexual misconduct – 2nd or subsequent offense. Covington is due in court for a bond reduction hearing on March 3.

Covington has prior convictions in May 2024 for sexual misconduct involving a child under 15, two counts of first-degree sexual misconduct, and second-degree sexual abuse; and an indecent exposure conviction in March 2024.
