ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A Spanish Lake woman used Facebook Marketplace to lure people looking to buy a video gaming system to rob them, St. Louis County police and prosecutors said.
According to the St. Louis County Police Department’s probable cause statement, the robberies occurred on Feb. 24, April 29, and May 3, 2024.
In the first incident, police said two people drove to a home in the 1200 block of Baron Avenue in Spanish Lake to purchase a Sony PlayStation 5 after answering a Facebook ad. Police said one victim entered the residence, where they were robbed at gunpoint by Kalin Bush and others. The second victim was carjacked and Bush and her cohorts left in the victims’ 2019 Nissan Altima.
The second robbery occurred in the 2700 block of Solway Avenue in Jennings. The victim arrived at a home thinking he was going to purchase a PlayStation 5. Instead, police said Bush took the victim’s money, knocked him over, and then fled.
Police said the third robbery also happened at the home on Solway Ave. This time, the victim had answered an ad to purchase a PlayStation 5 and an Oculus headset. Police said Bush displayed a handgun and threatened the victim. Bush took the victim’s cash and car keys. However, Bush couldn’t operate the victim’s vehicle and fled on foot.
Bush was arrested on Aug. 5, 2024. Police said she confessed to the robberies, the stealing, and the carjackings.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Bush with two counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of vehicle hijacking, one count of stealing, and four counts of armed criminal action. Bush remains jailed on a $150,000 cash-only bond. She’s scheduled to appear in court on Friday, March 21 for a bond reduction hearing, and again on April 15 for a preliminary hearing.
