ST. LOUIS — As we come together to celebrate Veterans Day across the bistate, communities are honoring the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of our nation’s military heroes. Here’s a look at some events happening throughout the day, offering a chance for everyone to show appreciation to those who have served or are currently serving.

Manchester: A Day Full of Honors

The city is hosting a day filled with meaningful tributes to veterans and active military members. From 7 to 10 a.m., American Legion Post 208 will host a breakfast where city staff will serve a meal as a token of appreciation to veterans and active-duty personnel.

At Margaret Stoecker Park, the Flags of Valor display will be available to view until 3 p.m. These powerful visual honors the resilience and unity of our nation, with flags that were previously flown in remembrance of the September 11th attacks.

The day’s events will conclude with the “Hometown Heroes Appreciation Ceremony” at 6 p.m. at the Manchester Justice Center. Live music honoring America’s heritage will accompany family members of veterans as they share personal stories of their loved ones.

Belleville: St. Louis Area Foodbank Veterans Day Food Giveaway

The St. Louis Area Foodbank is hosting a food distribution event for veterans and their families. The giveaway runs from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the First United Presbyterian Church on Royal Heights Road. Veterans and their families are invited to pick up fresh produce, pantry staples, and personal care items. 

Another distribution will be held in St. Louis from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Starr Parking Lot on South 8th Street. Organizers are expecting a large turnout and encourage people to bring their military IDs.

St. Peters: Veterans Day Ceremony at the Cultural Arts Centre

In St. Peters, the Veterans Day Ceremony will be held at the Cultural Arts Centre inside City Hall at 10 a.m. This annual event, organized by the St. Peters Veterans Memorial Commission, will feature guest speakers Sergeant Major Serena Rowan, a 30-year Army veteran, and Commander Patricia Lee of the Navy Reserves. Both bring decades of outstanding service to this important gathering.

St. Louis: Wreath-Laying Ceremony at Soldiers Memorial

The French Society of St. Louis will lead a wreath-laying ceremony at Soldiers Memorial in downtown St. Louis. It’s set to begin at 10:50 a.m. This solemn event honors the sacrifices of over a thousand St. Louisans who served their country. The Memorial is also featuring two free exhibits, “Ghost Army” and “St. Louis in Service,” providing historical context and honoring local military contributions.
