ST. LOUIS – St. Louis City Hall announced that it won’t proceed with a lawsuit aimed at halting the takeover of the St. Louis City Police Department.

The lawsuit was filed on April 14, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Mayor Cara Spencer declared that the lawsuit had fallen short, suggesting that her administration is exploring alternative options for the future.

Despite the mayor’s decision, Megan Green, President of the Board of Aldermen, disagrees with abandoning the lawsuit.

The lawsuit alleges that the current law violates free speech by prohibiting city officials from interfering with the board.

Green said she plans to refile the lawsuit as soon as possible.
