ST. LOUIS – Fire departments in the region are offering condolences after an off-duty St. Louis firefighter died in a crash over the weekend.
The crash happened around 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Drive and Whittier Street in north St. Louis.
Investigators said Corey McBride was driving a black Jeep Wrangler when it collided with a gray Chrysler 300 that was attempting a left turn. The Jeep flipped in the crash.
McBride was pronounced dead at the scene. His age was not released.
The driver of the Chrysler fled the scene but turned himself in to police the following morning at the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s North Patrol Division.
