ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum has launched an emergency fundraising campaign following the termination of a federal grant.
The fundraising campaign will go toward supporting the preservation of Holocaust survivor testimonies.
The Institute of Museum and Library Services grant, awarded to the museum in 2022, funded the digitization and public accessibility of oral histories from Holocaust survivors who resettled in the St. Louis region.
“Our survivor testimonies are the foundation of everything we do — they are essential tools in the fight against antisemitism, hatred, and Holocaust denial. The loss of this grant puts that critical work in jeopardy,” Myron Freedman, the museum’s executive director, said. “We cannot allow these voices to fade,” said
Last week, museums around the country received notice their grants were terminated as part of federal cuts from the Trump administration.
In response, the Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum has launched an emergency fundraising campaign to continue its essential work.
