ST. LOUIS – Communities across the St. Louis region are coming together this Memorial Day to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
In Belleville, the annual Memorial Day parade runs from 10 to 11 a.m., starting at North Third and A Street and ending at Walnut Hill Cemetery, where a ceremony will follow.
Alton hosts the country’s longest-running Memorial Day parade, now in its 158th year, beginning at 10 a.m. from Alton Middle School and concluding at Alton City Cemetery by noon.
Dupo will hold a joint ceremony at 11 a.m. with the American Legion Post 485 and VFW Post 1699 at the American Legion on South Fifth Street.
O’Fallon, Illinois, will feature a Memorial Day service from 9 to 9:30 a.m. and a larger observance at 11:30 a.m. at the O’Fallon Veterans Monument, with U.S. Navy Captain Tim Raymie, Director of Intelligence for U.S. Transportation Command, as the keynote speaker.
Waterloo’s ceremony starts at 11 a.m. in Courthouse Square on South Main Street.
