ST. LOUIS – A Riverview man pleaded guilty Friday and admitted hosting dogfights in his home and training them to fight.

Terrell Williams admitted to hosting dog fights in his Riverview home on two occasions between July and August 2021, according to a news release by the Office of the United States Attorney, Eastern District of Missouri. He coordinated these dog fights through a wooden box set up in his basement.

The Office also noted that Williams admitted to breeding and owning various bull terriers or terrier mixes for dog fighting between Sept. 5, 2020 and May 1, 2022.

In June 2022, FBI agents investigated Williams’ home and seized multiple dog breeds, including eight bull terrier mixes and three Yorkshire terriers, according to the news release. The FBI also confiscated equipment that was used to train the dogs, which happened to be weighted vests, body-enhancing chemicals and a canine treadmill.

The office also noted that the dogs had scars consistent with dog bites or dog fighting.

Williams faces up to five years in prison, a $250,000 fine or both prison and a fine. In part of his plea, he also agreed to give up the dogs and training equipment.
