ST. LOUIS – Dany Garcia, the owner of the UFL, says there was a loud cheer this weekend at the dome at the America’s Center when the announcement was made that the UFL championship game is coming back to the Gateway City on June 14.

The news comes as the Battlehawks continue to draw some of the highest attendance numbers in the league, casing the city’s deep rooted love for the game

“This city and this team, the St. Louis fans, is where sports thrive,” Garcia said. “When you begin to break down St. Louis and all that happens here, the magic—look at last year, 23,000 fans plus and the Battlehawks were not playing. This fandom says, come bring your championship here, and we will take care of you and it will be a great time.”

Garcia also shared expansion opportunities for the UFL.

“We actually announced that we will be expanding  our cities that has always been apart of the UFL, and our plan is to go from 8 to 10 to 12,” Garcia said.

Marc Schreiber, St. Louis Sports Commission, says it’s a major moment for the city, fans and local businesses.

“I think further its validation and reinforcement show how great St. Louis is a sport city and how football town it is and credit to the Battlehawks and the fans for being able to pull this off and bring the championship back another year,” Schreiber said.
