ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis man admitted in court Tuesday to shooting an undercover officer from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
According to court documents, Anthony Stallworth, 25, pleaded guilty to one count for each: possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl, distribution of fentanyl and discharge of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
In an undercover operation back in 2019, Stallworth met with an officer for drugs that contained fentanyl. A few days after the two met, the officer contacted Anthony to buy more drugs.
The two agreed to meet again.
While attempting to meet Stallworth, the undercover officer pursued him in a vehicle. Stallworth, who was driving a Mercedes SUV, stopped his vehicle at a stop sign.
Prosecutors then state that Stallworth stopped his car, pulled out a gun aimed at the undercover officer and fired two shots before speeding off.
In 2023, court documents reported that Stallworth continued engaging in drug activity. During that time, officers were eventually able to conduct a search warrant at Stallworth’s apartment.
According to prosecutors, police were able to find 450 grams of meth, 86 grams of fentanyl, a 10-millimeter pistol, and drug paraphernalia.
Stallworth’s sentencing is Sept. 9. He faces up to 15 years in prison.
