ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis man was arrested Tuesday and charged for a fatal shooting last fall in the city’s Hyde Park neighborhood.
According to Evita Caldwell, a spokeswoman for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting happened around 11 p.m. on Nov. 22, 2024, in the 1100 block of Angelica Street.
Officers arrives to find a man shot inside a home on the street. EMS responded and pronounced the victim, later identified as Frank Bell Jr., dead at the scene. Bell was 45.
Over the next three months, homicide detectives identified Phillip L. Barnes, 44, as the person who killed Bell, Caldwell said.
Police did not disclose the circumstances of Barnes’ arrest.
The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Barnes with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. Barnes remains jailed without bond.
