ST. LOUIS – The Fortune 500, an annual list published by Fortune Magazine, ranks 500 of the largest corporations in the United States based on their total revenue from the latest fiscal year.

In total, Fortune 500 companies represent two-thirds of the U.S. gross domestic product.

Fortune released its 71st annual Fortune 500 list on Monday, recognizing seven companies from the St. Louis area.

Among the regional companies recognized around St. Louis include:

  • Centene (23)
  • Reinsurance Group of America (196)
  • Emerson Electric (238)
  • Jones Financial – Edward Jones (260)
  • Graybar Electric (365)
  • Post – Food Consumer Products (477)
  • Core & Main (497)

Last year’s list, which also featured seven St. Louis-area companies, included the region’s top-five ranked companies from this year. Post – Food Consumer Products and Core & Main are new entries to the 2025 Fortune 500 list.

Centene, the St. Louis region’s leading company, dropped one spot from last year. However, it was the only local company within the Top 100 of the Fortune 500 list. It easily led the region with $163 billion in revenue.

Jones Financial – Edward Jones (+73) and Reinsurance Group of America (+61) both saw notable jumps in the rankings. All other companies to make the list reported revenues between $7.4 billion to $22.1 billion.

Overall, the revenue threshold for the 2025 Fortune 500 list was $7.4 billion, up 4% from last year. 

Walmart takes the top spot on the Fortune 500 list for the 13th consecutive year, generating more than $7 trillion in cumulative revenue. Amazon, United Health Group, Apple and CVS Health rounded out the Top 5 spots right behind Walmart.
