‘This is a first’; Missouri police officer rescues baby deer from empty pool

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A Springfield police officer’s routine patrol quickly turned into a rescue mission for a baby deer stuck in an empty pool.

Bodycam footage of the rescue shared on Storyful shows Officer Matthew Vorse climbing into the pool and carrying the tiny fawn back to its mom, who was waiting nearby.

“Days like this I feel like I’ve made a difference in the world,” Vorse said in the video.

“Sometimes this job is tough.” The Springfield Police Department posted on Facebook. “Other times, it involves a baby deer and a heartwarming rescue.”
