GRAY SUMMIT, Mo. – A popular attraction in Gray Summit will remain closed until further notice.

A spokesperson for Purina Farms told FOX 2 through a statement, it’s believed a tornado was responsible for significant damage to the Visitor Center, Pet Center, Barn and Incredible Dog Arena on Friday.

The statement indicated all employees were safe and all animals were accounted for and are being cared for by either staff or community partners.

The Event Center, which hosts dozens of dogshows, did not sustain serious damage, even though it’s located 250 yards from the area where significant damage took place.

Ameren crews were still in the area working to restore power on Monday.

“Looks like crews are working hard,” said Keegan Guffey, Labadie resident. “I had power back within a day or two, which I honestly didn’t expect given how many power lines were down.”

“We really appreciate them,” said Douglas Gliedt II.

One team of crews worked along a row of downed trees on Decker Road in Labadie on Monday.  A resident said the storm destroyed a barn on her property.

“The sheer power of nature is terrifying sometimes,” Gliedt said.
