ST. LOUIS – A disaster assistance center has opened at Chaifetz Arena to help people affected by the deadly tornado on May 16.

The center is a collaboration between the City of St. Louis, state agencies, and local organizations, providing resources ranging from insurance assistance to emotional support.

Starting Monday, investigators from the Missouri Attorney General’s Office will be present at the center to offer tips on avoiding scams, price gouging, and hiring unreliable contractors.

The resource center will be open from Monday through June 12, again from June 16 through June 18, and from June 23 through June 26, operating daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Chaifetz Arena.

Individuals seeking assistance can register for an appointment on the city’s website or by calling 211. Visitors are advised to bring a photo ID and proof of address if it is not listed on their license.

If you need help getting here, Uber is offering free roundtrip rides to and from the disaster assistance center. Apply the promo code “STLRelief2025” in the Uber app and it will cover up to $50 each way.
