STE. GENEVIEVE COUNTY, Mo. – A two-alarm fire was reported at the Holcim Cement Plant around Monday afternoon.

The Kinssey Volunteer Fire Department says the fire began around 1:45 p.m. when a conveyor—built with a special steel—caught fire, causing it to collapse. The incident forced the Burlington railroad tracks to close, trapping over $1 million worth of fire equipment at the scene.

The equipment will remain in the warehouse until a crew arrives to remove the specialized steel. The fire trucks will be kept running to prevent freezing as well.

Around three counties have sent fire and EMT units to the site, in which the fire was put out.

Smoke still lingers in the air at about 150 ft. No injuries have been reported as of Monday night.

This is a developing story. More will be posted as it comes into the FOX 2 newsroom.
