HAZELWOOD, Mo. – One man and one woman were found dead Tuesday at a Hazelwood home in a case police are investigating as a murder-suicide.

On Tuesday evening, officers with the Hazelwood Police Department responded to a welfare check in the 40 block of Rivermeadows Drive. During the wellness check, officers entered the home and found two individuals deceased with apparent gunshot wounds.

Hazelwood Police Captain Norman Mars tells FOX 2 that preliminary evidence suggests the deaths likely stemmed from a murder-suicide, possibly related to domestic circumstances.

Investigators believe the deaths may have occurred last weekend, though the exact timing remains unclear.

Police have not disclosed the identities for either of the two individuals found dead, and it’s unclear who may have fired shots. Police recovered one firearm from the scene.

The Hazelwood Police Department’s critical investigation unit is leading the ongoing investigation.

Additional details are limited at this time. FOX 2 will update if more information becomes available.
